Inner Orbit

There are times when inspiration comes at the drop of a hat for me. This poem was just one of those moments. I was not even in the mood to write and chose to watch a Korean drama instead. There was a moment in one scene where time stood still for everyone except one character. As he looked around he became very sad. A narrator was reciting a poem as well, which made the scene very emotional, then boom…there it was, two lines came to me; “her misery could be undone, if she would only chase the sun.” I knew right then and there that I needed to pause the show and get my tablet and pen. Within ten minutes I had written the poem I called Inner Orbit. When writing comes to me like this it is often for someone else not me, so I hope this goes to many who may need it or appreciate it. In any case, as with all of my writings, it is offered with love.

Her misery could be undone

If she would only chase the sun

The waking hours thus complete

With energy and joy to greet

But often times there came the rain

With scattered storms that sharpened pain

And so she turned to sleep to find

Some happiness where dreams unwind

For no one there could do her harm

A fantasy that came unarmed

She sometimes felt alone as one

Because she left behind the sun

And as time flew so did the light

Then her emotions turned to night

Thus her sleep was filled with dread

Because she chased the moon instead.
